WHY:             As the cannabis market continues to grow within Arizona and nationally, so does the need for well-qualified workers in the industry. However, an affinity for cannabis products is not necessarily a prerequisite. “Our curriculum at Scottsdale Community College was designed by cannabis industry professionals, so students understand what knowledge is needed,” said Dr. Crockett. “Students earn college credits like any other business certificates.”

Mint Cannabis Co-Founders Shahara and Molina are living examples of how savvy business professionals can thrive in the cannabis industry. Neither are cannabis users personally, but pooling their business knowledge and background in the auto industry has helped propel the Mint to become one of the nation’s most innovative cannabis operators. “Within our dispensaries, we focus on training and developing our team members into strong leaders,” said Molina. “Well-educated workers who are intent on building a successful career instill confidence in our customers, which is a benefit for our business and for the industry as a whole. Teaming up with Scottdale Community College reinforces our belief in the important role that not only education, but higher education, plays in the future of the cannabis industry.”
