Arizona hospitals typically need more blood during the holidays, however, blood donations in Arizona tend to decrease during the winter months due people going on holiday travel or getting seasonal illnesses. That is why Mint Cannabis is teaming up with Vitalant to hold a series of Community Blood Drives at its six Valley dispensaries in October.
After people make a blood donation at a Mint dispensary this month, and if they’re 21 years of age or
older, they’ll receive a product voucher from the Mint that is redeemable for a future visit. Additionally, when donors give blood between October 6-31, they’ll automatically be entered for a chance to win one of three $5,000 gift cards from Vitalant.
Blood donations are from 11am-3pm on these dates and locations:
– Oct 6: The Mint at 17036 N. Cave Creek, Phoenix
– Oct 14: The Mint at 1211 N. 75th Ave, Phoenix
– Oct 20: The Mint at 2444 W. Northern Ave, Phoenix
– Oct 23: The Mint at 5210 S. Priest Dr, Tempe
– Oct 24: The Mint at 8729 E. Manzanita Dr, Scottsdale
– Oct 30: The Mint at 330 E. Southern Ave, Mesa
Blood has a short shelf life, requiring a constant supply of donations. Red blood cells must be used within 42 days, and platelets must be used in five. This means blood must be constantly replenished, and doing so is only possible thanks to blood donors.
